Stickies: Does not honour "Set to style"
Mon Oct 30, 2023 2:06 pm
I've noticed this happening for some time. Thought I'd ask here...
The problem is pretty straightforward.
I have created two styles in Settings/Appearance for "loud" stickies that I use for alerts.
Have never had a problem with this on earlier versions, but when I right click on a sticky title bar and select Set to style (and select either of my bright styles).... nothing seem to happen. The sticky colour stays the same, my yellow default.
I thought nothing had changed - but I see that the font size and colour changes correctly - but the sticky body colour does not change.
Have I missed something that changed? Used to work fine.
Thanks!
PS; My bad.. I just noticed that someone has posted a similar problem (though no fix there) the post was something like "background colour not saving with style", with the same issue.
Also should have mentioned: Windows 11 Pro 22H2 22621.2428

Actually, the conclusion of topic "background colour not saving with style" is that.... there is NO ISSUE at least with latest rev of Stickies (10.1d)
Which rev are you running ?

"Set to style" works only once

When I create a new note, I right-click on the title and select "Set to style" and select once of my styles - or I use one of the alt+N hot-keys. It works. But when I do it again, nothing happens.
Is this by design or is it a bug? Or am I missing something?

I think I can explain what's happening - when you set a style, if there is no text selected then the style is applied to the whole note, including the note colour.
If however any text is selected, then the style is applied to only that text, and the note colour won't be changed.
When you set a style in the release version of Stickies, as a side effect some of the text is also selected, meaning if you immediately then apply a different style, it will only be applied to that selected text.
For the next release, I've changed it so that applying a style doesn't leave any text selected, as I think that's probably more useful - it certainly sounds as if it will be for what you describe above.

- Stickies doesn't honour custom keyboard?
- Change all stickies to a DEFAULT style?
- stickies - text position cursor style?
- stickies quickly alter text style and colour?
- Make Stickies Such that Using Stickies Portable (PortableApps) is Able to Remember Location of a Skin Files Even if the Stickies Folder is Moved
