Cannot launch Stickies

Hi, Installed Stickies and created the stickies.db and stickies.ini files in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stickies".
However, when I launch, I get the error message "Cannot open or create database at C:\Program Files (x86)\Stickies\stickies.db.
What am I doing wrong?

By default, Stickies stores its live data in %appdata%\stickies. The backups are also written to this location - to a subdirectory there named backups.


Did you use the installer to install stickies v10 ?  Is it an upgrade from an earlier version ? I guess if you do not have admin rights or launch stickies as admin ,it would not be possible to write/change a file in the root ( at least on win10 ).

I get an error 8 if i try it when stickies.db is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Stickies" .

There is not stickies.ini in v10 ( only the stickies.db ) so it must be a leftover from some earlier version.
