hiding caffeine

Hi,

Caffeine is great.  But, the company IT people caught on and told
me to stop, to delete it from my system.  I tried renaming it
from caffeine.exe to pinecone.exe and with some effort got it to
run.  In task manager the image name is pinecone but the
description still says caffeine.  Can I vi the exe to correct
this?

How else could I hide that I am running caffeine?

vi the exe?  Nope, but try a free app called ResHacker.  That will partially help at least.  Failing that, a hex editor can alter strings.  You can't make them longer, but you can replace character.

However ... I have to advise that your security people know your line manager and your HR policies ... so be careful getting on their bad side!

I found a way to keep the screen up, but it is permanent, it never locks.
Have been using it for over a year and they have not caught on.
And I don't care if they do. I have KMA money and am over retirement age.
The company is shooting themselves in the foot.
At least with caffeine it would lock after however many minutes I set it for.

I have downloaded reshacker and will try to fiddle with it tomrrow.
