Sat Oct 09, 2021 8:55 am
Hi, trying to use skinner.exe but it crashes on all my computers (w10 - desktop / laptop), I even try on w11 but same issue...
Any idea of the problem ?
Thx
PS: Sorry my win is in french but the translation is something like "App can't start because its configuration side-by-side is invalid..."

A solution is given here by an update from microsoft to install some missing libraries for visual studio :

For the record, the issue is still relevant in Windows 11

Yes, it seems that MS are dropping support for apps which were compiled using VS2008. To be fair, that's very old now... but it's the dev environment I paid for back then and it still works.
The exe files it puts out can be statically linked which is what I'm moving to now. It makes them larger to download and store, but that's less of a problem all the time.
Next time I compile and upload it I'll try to remember to statically link it. For the time being, grab that library file to sort it out.
