Incompatibility with Affinity Software's products
Mon Aug 19, 2024 12:13 am
I've been having all sorts of issues with my Affinity Software apps: Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Designer 2, and Affinity Publisher 2. The windows in all three apps would occasionally (randomly) zoom in a bit. If left alone, they would eventually zoom in to the maximum limit. It was happening on my laptop as well as my desktop, but not in a virtual environment I'd set up, so I knew it had to be an interaction with something I'd installed in both locations.
Through a painstaking process of elimination, I finally found the problem. It's Caffeine. I disabled it on one device, and the issue stopped. I'd previously filed a bug with Affinity but they seemed to think it was a "me problem" because they couldn't reproduce it.
I don't know what interaction Caffeine has with the OS to keep it alive, but it was enough to cause these three apps to fail. Thought I'd let you know.

By default caffeine sends the F15 key every 59 seconds ( it is a rarely used function key ) . You can change the way it keeps the pc alive .
