orphans popup appears at startup
Sun Jul 01, 2018 4:57 pm
For about a week "orphans" appear when Stickies loads showing no content.
I click delete. Next reboot, 1 or 2 orphans appear again.
How to prevent "orphans" to appear when Stickies loads?
thanks

You could check in the "Manage Stickies" window if under "recurring" there are stickies . If you delete a recurring sticky it will come back.

Thank you for idea. Seems not the issue. I have no recurring stickies.
Orphans continue to be listed in dialogue box that appears at startup. Each orphan listed shows No Content found.
By Title on orphan Stickies this morning, I know content should be there.
Why is content being lost?
Will reinstall Stickies, but would like to discover what is the issue.

Inspected all stickies. Somehow content is being lost after setting Sleep particulars.
No Stickies in other categories lacked content.
will reinstall Stickies

Any chance of a screenshot of what you're seeing please? Orphans are when Stickies finds content files present in one of the data directories which aren't linked into the main app data file, so it gives you a chance to recover lost information ... but you ought not to see it at all when everything is working correctly.
Otherwise, if you can work out a method to get it to happen, something with sleeping, then that would be very useful for me to be able to troubleshoot here, thanks.

What you're seeing is one Orphan note, the contents of which is the text "Content file not found".
From there, you may as well click Delete, as there's no need to keep that note any longer.
However, the question is why this has appeared in the first place. Do you know what triggers it?

I see similar, difference being I can see the content of the orphans. And there's many dozens of them. The alert appears after a computer restart and Stickies startup, and after restoring a Stickies backup. Can these all be deleted without removing anything from Stored or Closed?
Thanks
Thanks

Yes, you can delete orphans and nothing will disappear from Stored or Closed. That's what an orphan is in this context - some content which is on the file system in the data directory, but which Stickies doesn't know anything about.
