4K Display and Mouse Gestures
Sat Jun 02, 2018 2:42 pm
Hi, I have two questions:
Is Stickies not optimised for 4K display screens? The UI is extremely small and difficult to work with - lovely skins but tiny icons. I tried the option of overriding the high DPI scaling from Stickies app properties under 'Compatibility', and the size turned normal, but that renders the sticky note colours useless - likely due to the change in scaling behaviour. Are there any other workarounds?
And, are mouse gestures like two-finger scrolling not available for Stickies? I enable the scrollbar, but it seems the only way to scroll is toggle the sidebar, or using the up/down arrow keys.
Any help or advice would be great.
Great sticky-notes app, however. Very personalised and feature-packed

I did quite a lot of work to get Stickies to function correctly with high-DPI displays back when I first got a 4k screen. Stickies is not only high-DPI aware, but it's also per-monitor DPI aware, so the notes will change their skin when dragged from one screen to the next.
However ... not all skins are high-DPI aware. In fact, the only one which is aware is the default one - I don't think any others have been created which scale according to the DPI setting.
You can hack around this by changing the compatibility mode of Stickies when you run it, but it makes text look rubbish.
As for scrolling, Stickies reacts to the WM_MOUSEWHEEL event, so maybe there's a setting in your touchpad driver which makes it work in a more compatible way with apps like Stickies? Mice send that event to windows when you move the mouse - so I'd have thought that touchpads should do the same?

4K offsrcreen problem

I switch between FHD (Laptop) and Monitor (4K). Unfortunately Stickies are much larger on FHD and mostly offscreen.
