Targeted Caffeine

Did the link for Targeted Caffeine disappear?

Well ... yes.  It seemed to stop working.  Someone mailed me asking for a small addition, I added the code, but then suddenly realised that the app had stopped working entirely.  The person I was talking to confirmed it, and I can't for the life of me tell why messages sent to another window aren't reaching it any longer.  I suspect it was a security update of some sort, but rather than have dodgy code uploaded, I just took it down instead

Is there any plan to replace targeted caffeine or does anyone know of an equivalent?

Hi Tom,

I use Caffeine, and quite like Targetted Caffeine -made more sense to refresh a browser than send key strokes in a terminal which is open. 


I am happy to help in getting a fix for this if the source is available . Can send you email-address, if that is acceptable for you.

Would you be OK with Visual C++?  Mail me and I can pass you something to take a look at.  Heck, perhaps it will just work for you - it seemed to become intermittent rather than completely failed, but if a second pair of eyes on it can help, that would be good.

I see caffeine 1.80 is out with no release notes. Does it have something to do with this fix?

Afraid not - there are no release notes because the only thing which changed was the version number.  Someone pointed out that the versions were inconsistent, so I fixed them to all be the same.

I liked the targeted one, there were only a few things I used it for and could keep it running all the time. Like keeping active on Slack or Teams.  Even if I'm active and have Teams either minimized or thrown on another screen it showed me as inactive.  Targeted solved this. 
I ended up using regular Caffeine (64) and that puts the silly ~ in my ssh sessions.  If I knew C I'd pull it apart and take a look. In any case the targeted was working for me on all upgrades of windows 10.  I had to switch dev computers and didn't have targeted backed up, so no joy trying to get that back.
