Stickies on multiple PCs Empty Stickies on multiple PCs

Wed Nov 07, 2018 10:04 pm
Is it possible to run stickies on multiple PCs? Put the database on e.g. dropbox and point the app to it? Will different resolutions scale well? (At work I have 4k, at home 1920x1200 on surface and 1920x1080 connected to the monitor. Can I use the same database on all PCs/Screens?

Thx!

This is an answer from the old forum ( archived )

So i guess the answer is yes you can run stickies from dropbox but make sure only one PC is linked to the dropbox at the same time.
The resolution problem is as far as i known still there. There used to be a member iPhilip on the old forum who wrote a script to solve it.
You can contact Tom Revell by email to ask if the script is still around , be aware of the conditions for sending an email:

There is a new api to move/resize a sticky that would make writing the script a lot easier now ( if your math is up to scratch   Wink  )

Thank you very much for your help!

Maybe the file with the size and position infos could be excluded from sync? They would stay locally then - or will there by chaos then? Shocked

Best regards

You can take a look at the file stickies.ini function ,it is explained in the helpfile under  Reference/stickies.ini.It contains all info for a sticky except the content ( text or image in separate file ).

You could parse stickies.ini ( if you are familiar with a script language ) and multiply the x-y values with a constant adjusting for the changed resolution before launching stickies.exe.
You could also keep your stickies to the left side of the screen within the smallest screenheight/screenwidth then their position will not be affected by a resolution change.

Best regards
